[A young man of considerable stature has washed up on the Domino City shoreline.

He is covered in salt and sand, and a few pieces of seaweed have draped themselves casually around his limbs and wormed their way into the tears in his clothing. He's clutching a sealed briefcase as if his life depends on it, even in unconsciousness.

There's a waterlogged nametag pinned to his soaked leather coat that reads "Hello: My Name Is Phoneutria."

What a suspicious character. Perhaps you should investigate.]

[[Note to former benchdwellers: Phone will probably have very few (if any) memories left from his time in the Dressing Room. You may have to reintroduce yourself. ;o also i'm posting in bed so don't be alarmed if i doze off, I'll be back tomorrow morning!!]]

[...this wasn't who she was looking for.

Not that she was expecting to find anyone in particular out here at all. Her drives out near the city outskirts are more to vent frustration than anything, since her actual manhunt around the new residential abode isn't going well. Still, of all the familiar faces to find when she saw someone collapsed where the road came up close to the beach, and she got out to investigate...

It looks like it'd be tough to get that case away, but is turning him over and trying to drag him from the surf out of the question? It will be a stilted, jerky effort!]

[Phone is a heavy man, but with some judiciously applied effort, he can be flipped onto his back and dragged to drier land.

He coughs and sputters a little when he's turned over...his name tag is clearly visible now, too, albeit a little bit blurred from the ink bleeding in the water. Yep, this is the right guy.]

[Effort- She can- Provide-

Gaahhh...

But at least it's amply rewarded, since the sounds show he's definitely alive! So on top of looking him over and noticing the name - yep, another familiar fellow victim of the relocation project! - she's trying to pull him up to a supported sit.]

Hey, you can hear me right? Just try and catch your breath.

[With a bit of work, he's pulled up into a sitting position, at which point he slumps forward and coughs up seawater. Oops.

He does open his eyes after that, though...that's a good sign. And after he finishes coughing and takes a few breaths, he speaks, hoarsely:]

...have we met?

[He clearly has his priorities straight.]

[Woah- this is usually where someone says to give him some space, right? Or is that when he's unconscious?

Oh, whatever! She awkwardly pats his back until he stops coughing, waiting for the expected question of where he is,

...and gets that, instead.]

Ah, I thought so... You don't know me?

[Wow, did he bang his head or something? She looks around, just in case there's something else around out of place around here, before she turns the frown back on him.]

You just washed up here, but... You don't remember how you got here?

[He stares at her, analyzing her carefully.]

...I do know you. But not where we met.

[Letting go of his briefcase and setting it on the sand carefully, he looks out at the ocean.]

I was standing on dry land at the academy, the last time I was conscious.

-the dueling academy? Then, sorry, but this is Domino. Sort of... And I don't know when you'll get back there.

[Except explaining that would be a huge mess to tackle, especially if he's suffering from amnesia of some sort. This isn't just about him going home for a while and forgetting, right? He doesn't look much older, and he'd at least place her...]

Do you at least remember the hotel? Or- [She shuts her mouth eyes glued to that case, then shakes her head with a frown. She's not paying attention to what's important here.]

Why don't we get off the beach? You should probably check by the hospital or, something...

...if we're in Domino, I should be able to navigate...

[She doesn't know when he'll get back...? What...]

...but we're not exactly in Domino, are we?

[Upon her suggestion of a hospital visit, he shakes his head.]

I can't.

Yeah, that's the problem with leaving, too..

[It's hard to make it anywhere else, when you keep ending up back in city if you drive or walk out, and the only passages out are doors she's, not sure about exploring alone.

But she's all for frowning at his protest. She's not sure about moving him much, much less how to treat him herself.]

Why? The people here are, not too nosy, if you don't try to stand out, and money isn't a problem.

[He mulls all of this over, sitting up a little straighter to check himself for injuries, and shakes his head at her remark about the hospital.]

I stand out whether I want to or not. I can't check into a Domino hospital if I'm not dying.

...So. Where, exactly, is this?

...I still don't see why...

[But without a clear sign he needs the care, she's loathe to push the issue. It's bad enough trying to figure out what the people do or don't notice or mind, without drawing extra attention for a suspiciously reluctant patient.

Still, she can't offer much more than a shrug as she backs up, once certain he can support himself. ]

I wish I knew. It's definitely bigger here, and more... "Natural" I guess, but we're still stuck here, and. I don't know... How many from the hotel, ended up here...

[But... Phone just appeared now. Maybe more will follow!]

[He tucks his legs carefully under him and tries to stand up. His first attempt is unsuccessful.]

So all you know is that it's an alternate Domino. And you can't leave.

[His second attempt at standing is more successful, albeit wobbly.]

What's this "hotel"?

Ah, that's about it. I don't know a lot of what's true here yet, versus-

[-the hotel, and he really is playing it tough, isn't he? Forget it, she's going to try helping him keep on his feet. It's needed, especially if she wants a hope of getting him off the sand.]

It's- You really don't remember then? It... was the last place we were stuck. It was smaller, of course, but strange things happened there, too, and some of the same people are here, so...

[He almost looks irritated when she moves to help him. Is it a trick of the light?

The hotel...he contemplates the idea for a moment.]

[Ah, now he's getting it.]

[Well, tough noogies. Unless he throws that weight around, he's being led to that jeep up there.

Besides, isn't that insight much more interesting?]

-that's right. Is it coming back to you? We met in the hotel, but we're, not from the same world.

[He doesn't protest. He's too busy thinking...]

[But hey, he remembers. Dealing with the relocation and figuring out how to help him can stay the priority, if she doesn't have to detail all the DR madness. And attach "no, I don't know how" to every point.

But, they're familiarity? That stalls getting in the car.]

He nods, though, and files her into his list of people to remember.]

...I'll be going with you, then, if the housing arrangements are the same.

[See that he doesn't lose her file again!

She nods as she comes around to the driver's side, accepting the first name basis, before a frown forms.]

That- If you don't think you need a doctor... But, yes, we have a place to stay. It's an apartment building, and I don't think it's mandatory to stay there, but...

[Hey, free room and board, right? And a free ride there, at that!]

I don't. I'm not injured.

[He'd probably walk if he could. And he'd get a heart attack and collapse in the street, because he's a stubborn idiot.]

I have a room elsewhere, but it was probably destroyed.

That's good.

[And she's not so sure she buys it, but she'll settle for looking at him over the jeep door, if he hasn't gotten in and buckled up. If she can at least get him off the ~~water~~ ~~beach~~ street.]

...if you mean in the real Domino, I don't know. But apparently some stuff from the hotel moved here, with us. You might find your old room, if you look enough.

[She hasn't, but hey. That nine floor building is deceptive in its size.]

[He relents and sits down inside the car after carefully removing some seaweed that still clung to him..]

The real one. But I did have a duplicate in the hotel.

[He sets the briefcase carefully down inside next to him.]

Ah, you did that, too? Well, there's a hope, then.

[She can't look down at the case, given she's pulling into ~~REAL~~ traffic, but.]

At least you have some of your things with you?

Yes.

[He shakes his head (although she can't see it), staring out the window at the scenery flying past.]

Only my collars.

She's stuck relying on him looking at her and noticing the confused frown.]
