[MOD] Opening Mingle Post!
[You've woken up somewhere unexpected.
Maybe you don't realize it until you've looked out your window, since your apartment's the same, or poked your head out into the hallway. Maybe you've found yourself in a world you've never seen before - or else, one that looks just like home. But whatever the circumstances, it can't be denied: once again, someone's having a good laugh at your expense.
Should you venture into the lobby of a certain apartment complex, however, you'll find a banquet of breakfast treats laid out by unseen caterers. There's meats, eggs, pastries, rice, more pastries, yogurt, various juices, mimosas for those of age, still more pastries...
What can I say? Lots of you are Bakurae.
Enjoy the spread! But be careful. Four kinds of food spark a day-long event in your head.
Turkey sausage: Can't talk turkey! You're incapable of lying.
Cherry danish: Couldn't be sweeter! You'll crush on the first person you see after eating it.
Hot chocolate: Take it easy! You'll find yourself relaxing, taking life in stride.
Tabasco sauce: Fired up! You're full of energy and ready to explore.
Apparently you all aren't off the hook juuuuust yet.]
[[ooc: aaaand we're OPEN! Feel free to thread out mingling at the buffet in the comments below or posting for your characters anywhere within any of the various worlds. There's no set place where characters have to appear in the setting - if Amaryllis wanted to appear in Ancient Egypt, so be it, though there'll be a door nearby for those in branch worlds to return to the main one. This post is just for the buffet in the lobby, however, so if you want to start elsewhere just put up a post!
Please tag both entries you create and entries you comment into with the appropriate character tag. <3 I think I've created them for juuuust about everyone - and if I missed some of the later additions, everyone should have the ability to create tags.
LET'S DO THIS, PEOPLE.]]

[Man, he'd have her stop in a shop to adjust, if she's struggling, but if she wants to hurry... Best thing would be to guide her to run right after him, right?
Besides, it's not two blocks before things get familiar for real, and Mali's guide gets a +10 confidence boost, complete with pointing up some looong stairs.]
That's the museum up there! And, and my place. It'd be that way, if we cut through the plaza...
no subject
That's all full of old things? Wow.....it's so big.
[She lets go of his hand to run forward for a better look. What a big, pretty building! This is what she'd like her house to look like! And everyone would know ~Someone Important~ lives there....]
no subject
[Hey, weren't they going to his house? Mali? Aaaaaaaaaaaa-
Without much choice, he's chasing her up the long steps, yelling ahead.]
There's a kid's room through the right of the lobby! And, and exhibits downstairs, and statues and stuff up! And-
[And breathing. Breathing is good!]
no subject
is a lot
of stairs.
She falls on her hands and knees when she's finally in the lobby, gasping for breath....and then grins at all the pretty tile. It's so cool and quiet in here....
Will you find her before she gets herself lost in the museum?]
no subject
For some little boys, are not energetic.
But- Assuming she's not halfway through already, Upwords flops against the glass door and staaaaaaaaaaares at her through it comically before he lets it fall open.]
Why'd you... Do that... There's, no...
[Gaaaaaaaaaaah he needs to find a fountain! Excuse him while he walks right by the awed girl]
no subject
I thought dinosaurs were dead. Are they here because this is a place for old things?
[And then! Gasp!
It says "Egypt"!]
no subject
Huh? Oh, yeah- they just have some bones and stuff, that came from them. Maybe an egg...
[Hey, what's with that reaction? That's worthy of a walk over and peek and-
Oh.]
I- don't remember that exhibit... I, guess it's new?
no subject
Is this why they're not allowed too much contact? Would they end up in a museum if they--]
Hey- They don't -
They just keep things here, right? Not people?
[Because otherwise she might have to go check there aren't Tombkeepers in this "Egypt" thing.]
no subject
[If the completely uncomprehending stare isn't clue enough, the complete double-take? Does that say?]
What?! No- No way! Nobody's in a museum! Ex-except maybe performers, in art galleries or something. But that's workers! And... And I think, they show bodies, sometimes... I saw those in pictures... But, no, nobody alive!
no subject
[More staring at the map, heedless that people have started to stare at them.]
It's wrong to show off bodies. Dead people should be protected. Or they won't make it to the afterlife safely, and then they can't come back if they have to.
[She says this with absolute surety.]
no subject
[Kind of awkward to say, when everyone living here would be cremated at death. But, that doesn't seem smart to say.
Instead he shuffles closer, since their talk might be heard by onlookers.]
My grandpa, he said lots of other tombs, they get ruined by people who just want the gold and stuff, and they destroy the bodies.
no subject
[She doesn't seem to care about being overheard.]
Everybody can look at them forever and ever and ever? And they're taken to begin with! That's awful!
Taking somebody out of the tomb is no better than being the robbers themselves! That's why w---
[Eeeeek.]
Why awesome people are sworn to protect them!!
no subject
Someone stumbled back from the intense. And blinked back all confused - especially on her own stumble - before stuttering an answer.]
B-b, but... But isn't it important, for them to be remembered, too? Who they were?
[Oh please be true, he has no clue what he's talking about...]
no subject
The people guarding them can do that. It's everyone else's fault if they forget, for not doing a good job honoring their dead.
Is that what these "museum" places are all about? Making up for forgetting?
no subject
No, it's so we can learn things about other places we wouldn't know about, if we didn't have stuff from then to look at. Like, I wouldn't know about, Egypt, or pharaohs, without people finding this stuff and keeping it. Or, Troy? Or, even stuff that happened here, with the samurai or shoguns?
no subject
So in the face of this Incredible Logic, she wibbles a moment, then sticks her nose in the air.]
They still shouldn't dig up people.
no subject
But, maybe we should see, what they're doing with them here?
no subject
So she looks down and slightly away.]
Well, okay. We did come inside and everything.....
It's - this place, right?
[She pokes the map.]
no subject
[Now, will he be able to lead her right to it - hoping, hoping there's nothing too insulting about it all down there - or will the Greek statue display on the way distract?]
no subject
[She'll get distracted by the shinies along the way, but only slightly. There are important things she has to figure out!
She may be a small Tombkeeper without a special destiny, but if she's the only one around, she has a Duty. It makes her feel important.]
no subject
They, must be from tombs or something, but it's nothing too bad, yet.
Right?
Girl he's glancing at?]no subject
Nobody took care of these. You can barely read them.
Definitely could have used some....awesome people.
no subject
[Something says not refurbishing people or something...]
I think most of these were found after they were abandoned a long time, though.
no subject
[Though....
She looks at him very seriously. He's been surprisingly useful so far today! And though she'd get in big trouble if she told....and it's fun to have a secret destiny....
It's no fun when nobody understands her point of view.]
Unless.
You can keep....a secret.
no subject
[Who's he going to tell he- Er, that is, he's handled some pretty big ones so far, and she's a friend, so he'd not tell!
He'll just look, really uncertain and curious all at once.]
(no subject)
Guess who got interrupted in tagging by LIFE? (whoops, here it comes again!)
Gasp! Anything but THAT! (<3)
