[MOD] Opening Mingle Post!
[You've woken up somewhere unexpected.
Maybe you don't realize it until you've looked out your window, since your apartment's the same, or poked your head out into the hallway. Maybe you've found yourself in a world you've never seen before - or else, one that looks just like home. But whatever the circumstances, it can't be denied: once again, someone's having a good laugh at your expense.
Should you venture into the lobby of a certain apartment complex, however, you'll find a banquet of breakfast treats laid out by unseen caterers. There's meats, eggs, pastries, rice, more pastries, yogurt, various juices, mimosas for those of age, still more pastries...
What can I say? Lots of you are Bakurae.
Enjoy the spread! But be careful. Four kinds of food spark a day-long event in your head.
Turkey sausage: Can't talk turkey! You're incapable of lying.
Cherry danish: Couldn't be sweeter! You'll crush on the first person you see after eating it.
Hot chocolate: Take it easy! You'll find yourself relaxing, taking life in stride.
Tabasco sauce: Fired up! You're full of energy and ready to explore.
Apparently you all aren't off the hook juuuuust yet.]
[[ooc: aaaand we're OPEN! Feel free to thread out mingling at the buffet in the comments below or posting for your characters anywhere within any of the various worlds. There's no set place where characters have to appear in the setting - if Amaryllis wanted to appear in Ancient Egypt, so be it, though there'll be a door nearby for those in branch worlds to return to the main one. This post is just for the buffet in the lobby, however, so if you want to start elsewhere just put up a post!
Please tag both entries you create and entries you comment into with the appropriate character tag. <3 I think I've created them for juuuust about everyone - and if I missed some of the later additions, everyone should have the ability to create tags.
LET'S DO THIS, PEOPLE.]]

The prophecies don't say. But there are cards involved, and these are right! They have to be!
They're on the walls of my home.
[She is pretty sure she can't give away the Great, Big, Big Secret. She's not even sure she should know about it in the first place, but she's a very talented eavesdropper.]
no subject
[Even if he's not sure how a card ends upp based on some Really Big Secrets down in Egypt.
But, Mali wouldn't lie to him, and now he's got something to go on, besides the Puzzle itself!]
Then, I better learn how to play myself, in case I need to know.
no subject
[She'd only begun to learn since arriving, but...]
I can fix that! After we finish up here we can play at your house.
Since I told you about my family now I definitely have to see yours.
[Wink!]
no subject
[What do with tease, he's at a loss.
And in perfect Yuugi fashion, bypassing after a myriad of amusing faces.]
Right! My grandpa's great with games, too. Even if he hasn't heard of it, I bet he'd like to see the game, too. But, I bet he has..
-Do you want to see anything else here, first??
no subject
Uh....um....
[There's a part of her that wants to check up on the dead people. But there's another part of her that wonders why on earth anyone would want to look at a dead person. So.]
I'm okay! I know what this is now, and I guess it's all right.
[Take that, museum.]
no subject
Ooooh, fine. Gifted horse and all-]
Come on then! I definitely know the way from here- We'll just have to take a bus.
no subject
Okay!
[She'll follow quite obediently until she can't help but ask.]
A bus is a really big car, right?
no subject
[Here's hoping it's true at- whatever time it is now. But the museum was open, so surely...
Oh, look- there it is! Parked at... The bottom of... These, stairs.]
Ah!! Wait-
no subject
She grabs Upwords's hand again.]
We're riding toooooooooo!!!!
[And she runs for it, down the stairs as fast as she can. But the doors are closing---]
no subject
[Sorry, Mali. No proper bus driver on a tight schedule will wait that long.
So they're just going to end up at the end of the stairs.
Upwords slumping at the end of her hand.]
Yeaaaa... We'll have to wait...
no subject
How rude!]
They saw we were coming! They had to!
Why didn't they stop.....
[She looks somewhere between dismayed and outraged. Though mostly out of breath.]
no subject
[Sorry, Mali. Collapsing Upwords cannot answer indignation properly when he's leaning on the bus stop sign.]
If he, was late... He'd get in trouble.
-we'll just have to wait...
no subject
Okaaayyy.
[Then, more quietly.]
It's...complicated, out here. Not like the hotel.
no subject
But he eventually just flops himself upright, hugging his legs beside her.]
Well, it's new... that hotel confused me, when I dropped there. But, I got used to it.
And, there's lots to do in a city!
no subject
I want to see everything.
There's just - lots more everything than I'd thought.
[And she tries a brave smile, leaning on his shoulder.]
no subject
[Oh, sorry! Upwords was making bug-eyed blinks at the leaning, but he's recovering with a beam across the street, toes tapping.
Delay rectified.]
Then, you just need to pick what you want to see first! I, can help. I know some spots... And I bet my mom has a city map somewhere!
no subject
That'll be nice....Meeting a mom.
I don't have one of those, either.
You're so lucky.
[Said with a hint of resentment. But it might not be at him. It's not fair. He gets this big world, which he's used to so he can run around it without getting scared, and he still gets a nice family - he gets everything! People above the ground get everything!
What do Tombkeepers get? Her special destiny has begun to look less and less so.]
no subject
So he answers directly instead.]
Yeah, I guess so... It's just me and her and my grandpa right now, and I don't know what she'll say about you. I've never brought any friend home before...
But! If she's angry or something, my grandpa will probably help! [Confident grin!] He does that, like when I want to play a game instead of study...
no subject
[She brightens up. (In part because she's going to be the First Friend to see his house. So there, all his hypothetical other friends.)]
I have the best big sister in the world. If your grandpa's like that, then he must be nice.
no subject
[Definitely. Ishtar sister & Mutou grandpa.
But- Looklook, Mali girl! Another bus! That calls for Upwords getting up and helping his friend!]
Come on! We don't want to miss again!
no subject
Right! Leave us once, shame on them!
[And she'll run for the bus, looking over her shoulder with a smile.]
no subject
[Oh, why correct her? She's happy again and leaving him in the dust- As it should be. Far more important that he scurry after her, to talk through whatever's needed with the driver, and corral her to a spot on the bus.
Ready for your first ride on a bus, Mali?? (Upwords will sacrifice the window seat!)]
no subject
I hope you're not easily embarrassed, Upwords. She's going to be gasping at everything.]
no subject
Save whenever a specific sight comes up. Like, his school. Or favorite shops and food joints. Or, you know, that silly little lego-colored building of a game shop.
Why stop there?]
no subject
Awww, that's cute!
...are we getting off?
