[MOD] Opening Mingle Post!

[You've woken up somewhere unexpected.

Maybe you don't realize it until you've looked out your window, since your apartment's the same, or poked your head out into the hallway. Maybe you've found yourself in a world you've never seen before - or else, one that looks just like home. But whatever the circumstances, it can't be denied: once again, someone's having a good laugh at your expense.

Should you venture into the lobby of a certain apartment complex, however, you'll find a banquet of breakfast treats laid out by unseen caterers. There's meats, eggs, pastries, rice, more pastries, yogurt, various juices, mimosas for those of age, still more pastries...

What can I say? Lots of you are Bakurae.

Enjoy the spread! But be careful. Four kinds of food spark a day-long event in your head.

Turkey sausage: Can't talk turkey! You're incapable of lying.
Cherry danish: Couldn't be sweeter! You'll crush on the first person you see after eating it.
Hot chocolate: Take it easy! You'll find yourself relaxing, taking life in stride.
Tabasco sauce: Fired up! You're full of energy and ready to explore.

Apparently you all aren't off the hook juuuuust yet.]

There's no set place where characters have to appear in the setting - if Amaryllis wanted to appear in Ancient Egypt, so be it, though there'll be a door nearby for those in branch worlds to return to the main one. This post is just for the buffet in the lobby, however, so if you want to start elsewhere just put up a post!

[-this is just a remodeling, right?

Little boys have enough drama in their lives without with strange blue mouse pets wandering off, without adding a bedroom pulling a "this isn't Kansas" on him to the mix.

And yet.

If anyone is in the hall leading up to the lobby, there's a yuugi-boy looking behind a soda machine. Did it steal his money, perhaps?

Oh, right.]

[Well, isn't this familiar...

In a loose sense, at least. Whatever the location of the complex in the city, it doesn't take more than a quick look up and down the street, to realize where he is.

Does this mean they've moved back into his world? Or someone else's mirroring one? Would he find his own shop if he looked around? What a revelation!

...But. Surely they aren't going anywhere fast, right? No, and he just picked up this drink. He should find a bench just outside and enjoy the cocoa while it's hot.]

[-um. Not to make an uproar or question reality or anything but she doesn't know where she is!

And she's had some strange moments in her life, but none in recollection to compare to waking up in a unknown room, in a strange building, with no one she recognizes in the hall. The fact that she came down stairs and noticed a, vaguely familiar city outside the front doors? Not helping, when she was last on an island.

So. There's a short blond in a blue and white school uniform standing near the buffet, looking lost as a six-year-old in physics class. Does someone want to reassure her this isn't a memory lapse, hallucination, or kidnapping ~~done by a person~~?]

[And behind him lurks an equally fearsome beast, ready to pounce--]

[Oh, it's just Mali. Well. She's pouncing, in any case. To try and see if she can glimpse whatever he's looking at.]

[So Linner woke up on a bench. A park bench. In a city.

Which clearly wasn't his own world, as returning to that would involve imminent death. He therefore sets off to figure out exactly what trick had been pulled now, and whether the universe has seen fit to give him his preferred company for the duration of his stay.

He breezes through the doors of the building like he owns the place, and spots what looks to be a familiar head of hair.]

Gone astray, milady?

[Though on second glance, even from behind...]

[Candy has no idea where she is, but the food ~~in the fridge~~ in the lobby is awesome.

Currently stuffing her face full of everything high-carb in sight. Including a whole stack of cherry danishes. They're just so yummy!]

[There's a road. There's a real road and heeeee went out driving on it. He's still not home, and he doesn't know when he'll get there - his room is exactly the same, down to Iris's pendant (he checked, feel loved), so he's not too worried about the connections he's made being disrupted.

Brunch bursts into the lobby windswept and exhilarated. A real city. He'll take the changes as they come, but now he's got a real city he didn't have to think up himself. Optimism isn't his default setting, but what can he say? He drove a real motorcycle down a real street. Don't mess with his buzz.

Presently, however, he's starving. And there's a fox by his feet with a grumbly tummy, too.]

[He makes a noise stuck between distracted and surprised, fumbling to keep up under pounce and not hit the- owwwwwwwwww.

Rubbing his head, Upwords looks back, to give a "it's you!" grin.]

Hi- Ah, I'm looking for Temari.

[Eh? Oh, please be a receptionist or a guide or anyone who'd explain-

Hello, stranger. She's not sure what to make of you, but you don't look like staff. In fact, everything from appearance to comments just continued the baffling trend. But, a polite greeting never hurt anyone.]

-ah, I'm afraid so. Do you know where this is? I got turned around, somehow.

Temari ran off?! But that's dangerous! If you don't know where you are you should always stick close to people you know.

[Says the girl who left her room without waking up Nee-san.

Sorry, Marble Drop. Your "receptionist" just ran a hand through his bangs, chuckling. Laughing, actually.]

But, shuffling back onto the tile, he gives a quizzical look at the clutching before turning his worry frown on her instead.]

[-oh, Linner. This little lady doesn't know she's the lower level of your missing gal. What is she to make of this twitchy amusement?

Ah... Well, I don't see why anyone would do that now. But if they do... At least it'd be someone you likely know?

I read about that in a magazine. If you don't like somewhere, you move things around to make them prettier.

[Linner's just going to twitch his shoulders about that first bit. He didn't expect you to get it, and is still mostly just amused at ~~tinier~~ tiny girlfriend.]

[She straightens in mid-munch; it wasn't the talk of "slaves" that got her, but rather a mention of a "girl".

She glances behind her, but isn't quite sure who just spoke out in protest....looking about for the subject, now.]

Ah - sorry...did I do something wrong???

Just like there's magic dresses and magic ice cream and magic doj - dodge - places to learn how to play cards and kick people!

[The voice draws a curious side look - and proper stare - from the fellow, but it doesn't stop his chewing of some sausage so much as slow it.

Making it obvious that he's not speaking. As his shadow shifts and bends and lifts into a shaded, wispy, bat-winged double.]

You tell us! Why do you look like my slave, huh? Is it some illusion spell?

Ah- uh- I guess so...

[Honestly, that's more on the magic than the lost. (And, the kicking... why kicking?)

He's staring curious at Mali a second before looking down the hall.]

But, do you think it's bigger, now? Or... it looked like home, out the hall window.

[She doesn't exactly have options, does she? ...and she has this weird "party crashing" feeling from hanging out near the food, even with the welcome sign.

Besides, this guy must be really friendly, acting so comfortable. Why not follow?]

Sure- you don't think it's a problem to stay. It feels kind of like I shouldn't be here...

[Patu taught her how to take out the bad guys!!! This is very important knowledge she is proud of possessing.]
