[MOD] Opening Mingle Post!
[You've woken up somewhere unexpected.
Maybe you don't realize it until you've looked out your window, since your apartment's the same, or poked your head out into the hallway. Maybe you've found yourself in a world you've never seen before - or else, one that looks just like home. But whatever the circumstances, it can't be denied: once again, someone's having a good laugh at your expense.
Should you venture into the lobby of a certain apartment complex, however, you'll find a banquet of breakfast treats laid out by unseen caterers. There's meats, eggs, pastries, rice, more pastries, yogurt, various juices, mimosas for those of age, still more pastries...
What can I say? Lots of you are Bakurae.
Enjoy the spread! But be careful. Four kinds of food spark a day-long event in your head.
Turkey sausage: Can't talk turkey! You're incapable of lying.
Cherry danish: Couldn't be sweeter! You'll crush on the first person you see after eating it.
Hot chocolate: Take it easy! You'll find yourself relaxing, taking life in stride.
Tabasco sauce: Fired up! You're full of energy and ready to explore.
Apparently you all aren't off the hook juuuuust yet.]
[[ooc: aaaand we're OPEN! Feel free to thread out mingling at the buffet in the comments below or posting for your characters anywhere within any of the various worlds. There's no set place where characters have to appear in the setting - if Amaryllis wanted to appear in Ancient Egypt, so be it, though there'll be a door nearby for those in branch worlds to return to the main one. This post is just for the buffet in the lobby, however, so if you want to start elsewhere just put up a post!
Please tag both entries you create and entries you comment into with the appropriate character tag. <3 I think I've created them for juuuust about everyone - and if I missed some of the later additions, everyone should have the ability to create tags.
LET'S DO THIS, PEOPLE.]]

But he still unwinds enough to make some loud pointing to Candy.]
Fine!! Then until I find the way back, or a king here to squash- While I'm here, you can serve me, too!
[SUCH PRIVILEGE HE BESTOWS.]
meanwhile her ring is mentally eyerolling
[A worried glance at her double, since this is their ghost-shadow-demon-thing....but he doesn't seem to have much of an opinion about, well, much. So she'll bow, hoping her hair will hide the new blush on her cheeks.]
Th-then.....I'll do my best!! You - you can live - wherever you want! The rooms are....free.....
Your, uh. Majesty?
[If she's playing the role of the subject, she needs to get in character!]
Wonder why- Nightshade isn't the Doofenshmirtz of Ring Spirits or anything.
Who would react to this bellowing after so long-That is, Moon Vine just gives a sympathetic sort of stare, as Nightshade gives an approving cackle.]Good good! Not that it matters if I'm allowed here or not. I'd make this entire city mine if I wanted-!!
But- you-
[The 'shadow' bends in a way that should for all purposes make him fall over, save there he is staring in her face.]
You've got a shadow, and turn red- You have some other uses my original doesn't?
[She at least puts more thought into being evil than her double...]
He's poetry in motion.
You wanted to see her turn red? Here you go.]
U-uh.....I don't know.....sir.
I can - cook, and clean, and - I'm good at crafts and things.
And t-tarot....I do t-tarot readings. Does that count as real magic? It slipped my mind....
>D~
[-wait. His likely so helpful tirade at the colorful girl (which, while an interesting reaction, isn't the awed terror he prefers) is bypassed by sudden curiosity.]
Huh? What's "tarot" supposed to be? Is that like some trick?
no subject
I can do it with the normal cards, or...
[She pulls out her Duel Monsters deck, which she barely even knows how to play with properly.]
I wrote up rules for using this one afternoon, too.
A-and I'm very good at, uh. Fetching!
[She wants to be useful! So she can stay close....So he can compliment her again.]
no subject
But this.
A glance at those cards, and Nightshade's all over them. Enjoy the close company, Candy.]
Saaaaaaaaay, these are just like some of the lower beings we've walked all over before!
You can make them tell me things? Come on! They were nothing to fight, I want to see them tell fortune!
have you seen my occult deck tarot? i don't think i've used it....anywhere ;o;
Clearing her throat, she starts to shuffle her deck and heads for a table to spread her cards out.]
Uh, uh, okay....
Let's do something basic. Wh-what would you like to know about?
[No Candy don't fumble your cards - ah, safe at the last minute.]
I have! Through a YnB, I think... But poor thing, what a misuse!
Move it!
[Hnn- incoming double in the chair in front of you, Candy. He's even bringing a plate of gathered sweets to set on the table, if it and him can be noticed, around the proud decision.]
Okay- Tell me which laughingstock of a king shall fall next, to the sound of my victorious laugh!!
indeed
To get the full picture, we use...three cards. One for the past...one the present...and then the future.
So, thinking ab-bout the obstacles you've faced...
[She scrunches up her face and lays out three cards face-down, then flips over the leftmost one.]
The Earl of Demise. The kings you've fought so far are powerful, and believe they're in the right. They've probably - told you that, too.
Does that sound like anyone you know?
:x I mean getting used by Nightshade here. "Gimme a victim!"
That's right- He was, that upstart golden puppet- Doesn't know what he's talking about...
[...ignoring the ghost, and the boy under him mumbling "that wasn't you" both is likely the only way to go on now, Candy! Unless you want one irrational ramble.]
She'd argue that isn't quite how tarot's supposed to go, but her head is full of Other Things. :)
Besides, if she doesn't believe in her cards, who will?]
Mm. So then.....your current enemy is...
[She turns over the card and gulps.]
D-dark Spirit of the Silent. Reversed. Manipulation, a loss of freedom. You're not in charge of making your own decisions.
-Bu-but that doesn't mean the future card won't say something that'll change that!
[She doesn't want to disappoint him. She wants her reading to make him happy.
She wants him to stay nice and close. -////-]
Other things--? (also, I put up on plurk but I switched my aim to 'theroletoplay')
Just an intent one. Going from silent, near shaking frustration to shifting right up in her face in the space of a second.]
Then what is it?! What will give me back my old self?!
Other, loud, h-handsome things~<3
[She closes her eyes and breathes deeply, willing this last card to be hopeful, and that she's been reading these right. Slowly, she turns it over, trying not to feel his eyes on her too much. But he's so close....s-so close.....]
S-spirit Sword of Sealing. Upright, so...
[A little smile. Or an attempt at one.]
It's a good omen. You've also been given lots of new opportunities. A fresh start. So anything that went wrong before, you can disregard. It's what you do from today forward that counts.
And if it's talking about a new start, then that means there are definitely kings for you to conquer. Maybe even the same ones, but they won't expect you.
[Will that cheer him up? She wants him to be happy!]
no subject
[But, he's listening. With a blank stare for most of it, but listening.
And then he's suddenly cackling, making Moon Vine near choke on his food with the sudden noise.]
Of course they won't! No one can expect ME to cross their path! Not while knowing what I am, or they would be groveling from the start!! No, if I'm going to be ignored, at least it means, I can enjoy walking all over-
...
Wait.
That doesn't say which one's next!
[Guess who's right back in your face, Candy.]
no subject
[Okay, she'll do this informally. Gathering up her cards, she scrunches up her face and shuffles again.]
I'm going to think really hard about the question. And then, when I pull a card, that'll tell you something about the person you need to look for.
So then - you just have to find someone who reminds you of that card....
Actually.
[She fans out the cards, face-down, and holds them up.]
Can you pull one? While thinking hard about your goal. Or double can do it....if that's better.
[1/2]
[But, his hovering over the cards is stalled by the request for him to pull the card. And so, even if he's closer to Candy, it's his own mirror getting the attention.]
You heard her, slave! Pick the card of my first victim!
no subject
But he'll wipe the grease off his hands and look at the cards, curious until he gets an impulse to pick one.
And taps it, ignoring the grumble of "That better be the right one..." like a parent his crabby toddler.]
no subject
Ectoplasmer. A card about self-sacrifice, caring for others.
The person you're looking for will do anything for other people. They don't ever think of themselves, and would even sacrifice themselves to look out for their friends.
[For a moment she almost smiles: she knows someone like that. But there are other people here who are much more immediately in her thoughts.]
So you just have to look for really, really nice people. One of them is probably the person you're meant to fight.
I hope that helps you, uh. Begin to look.
...oh the consequenses.
Still, the thought carries through, and slowly but surely, well.
That face.]
So, I just need to focus on finding the right target, oh? Heh heh.... You know, this place, and both of you might be useful after all...
no subject
[Both?
Both?
She gets to stick around?
Candy goes bright red and squeaks.]
I'll do m-my best!
no subject
[-the great, triumphant laugh. Look at him! He's managed to double his slaves, and find a way to use them both! Yes, and even if Moon Vine isn't too zealous a helper, he follows him every moment. And this one- this new one that's all colorful and funny to prod? She'll tell him anything on her own, won't she?
Oh, what a good day!]
Now you, slave!
[Moon Vine, the boy giving Candy an "unbelievable..." look, is getting a look.]
You make friends with everyone here, you got it? And that goes for you too, girly! Can you handle that on your own? I'd rather keep tabs, but I think he'll need the most watching, here.
no subject
I can do that!!!
Starting with you, double.
[She offers him a shy smile and a hand.]
We haven't talked much and you've been here the whole time. I'm sorry.
Let's work hard together.
[And she grins a grin only the enthusiastically oblivious can manage.]
no subject
And Moon's giving Candy an almost, sympathetic stare, before he takes the offered hand.]
Good luck- I hope you adjust to changes fast. They're a constant with him.
[From him. But if she has the energy to do more than zone it out, well. Maybe someone else can listen to Nightshade monologe.]
no subject
All her friends from her old school kept losing interest in playing with her.]A-ah, well, I can try....
And I've moved around a lot, so! I'm used to change.
[Mumbled.]
...it must be nice, to have a friend always there.
