babby's first event
[Bramble wakes up (wrapped in blankets and hoodies in an alley) feeling somehow - off. Weirdly hollow, and he couldn't shake the sensation no matter what he tried. He steals himself a breakfast. It doesn't help. He robs a store. It doesn't help.
He goes running. It doesn't help.
Finally, he slips away from prying urban eyes to let Diabound out....
and nothing happens.
His breath sticks in his chest and he pounds the wall. He tries again. Why?
Why?]
You've got a lot of nerve, whoever you are...
[He looks around, wary and ticked but also a little scared.]
Attempting like this to stifle the King.

[Whoopsie, looks like Bramble's getting an answer. And right at his ear, too, as the boy's shadow slides back and off the ground, fading to the form of a person- Even if it's not completely convincing with the muted, transparent result.
So sorry, but someone mistook who Bramble's talking to.]
What did you do? Cast some curse to switch places? Or is that just you in there??

Bramble's hand flies to where he usually keeps knives, except he - hasn't got one on him, and hasn't since Diabound became strong enough to fight (Diabound can't be found on a preemptive search by the authorities). Either way, this isn't the kind of opponent he can defeat with a knife, is it...]
Well, I don't know....Maybe you should ask an actual magician.
I am but a simple thief.
[Said with a slightly cocky grin.]

[Cease the talking kid- You and your "thief" talking and ringing bells are confusing! And look who's coming down to face level.]
I don't want to hear anything but how to switch you back. Now. Who are you and where did you put him?!
[Clearly those demands line up.]
no subject
[Defiant smirk.]
I'm Bakura, the King of Thieves! And we've both had something snatched, it seems.
[He peers around the corner, as if the guilty party is in the area. Which for all he knows they are; he's giving the place a once-over.]
Might as well reclaim yours while I'm at it, Mister Spirit-Whatever-You-Are. Provided you ask nicely.

gFSCHSCH--nopossibleway,thiskid--]
Why don't you find my slave for me, Thief King, OR I'LL DEMONSTRATE HOW BEING A SHADOW DOESN'T HOLD ME BACK!!
no subject
That's polite? I'd hate to see you asking rudely....
But very well. Let's start with the basics.
What am I looking for?
[He's taking this in stride for now, but has a feeling you might get obnoxious. God dammit. He hates magicians for just this reason: surprises. He can't allow anyone to get the drop on him.]
no subject
Thank you.But (sniff!) he will be more likely to find him, the old fashioned way.]
Think you, but pale, and taller, and not so full of things to say.
no subject
Bramble slips out among the crowd, pulling the hood of his sweatshirt up to shield his face from people's views.]
Sounds valuable indeed...and you misplaced it. How terrible of you.
What are you, anyway? But subtly, now.
[He has a joint to case.]
no subject
Oh, never mind. This grand yell would likely come no matter what!]
What?! I am the Evil King Bakura, you solid miniature. And if you were truly from my world, you would know why you should be worrying about me, not these vacant walkers!!
[Of course, his world taught Nightshade, everyone ignores him. Even pedestrians. Not necessarily true here.]
no subject
Everyone turns to look. Bramble snorts, shrinking back on impulse - a thief isn't supposed to be seen till he's ready - then decides no, that ain't his style.]
You got a problem, eh?! Take it up with my big-mouthed friend....
We'll be heading through, now.
[And with a casual wave, he starts sauntering past the dumbfounded crowds. With a mutter.]
I see the problem...conflict of Kings. Well, rest on your laurels, Your Highness. This is starting to get good.
no subject
If it's possible for a shadow to hover closer...]
And what would you do about it, hmm? Sneaking around's easy with the right tools.
But getting your way out in front of everyone...
no subject
[It's on now. He marches right for the police station, having figured out at least this much about society. He doesn't like that you share his name, or that you're supposedly also a King - but he's got to get Diabound back, and something's swapped it out with whoever you're supposed to be stuck to. So he'll do that much for you.
But not the way you want him to. :P]
And they know how to use their enemies to their advantage.
no subject
It's his answer that has him scoffing. Loudly.]
There are no real enemies to the best of kings! The obstacles and irritants!
[And threats, but he wouldn't allow any to remain, so no difference to him!]
no subject
[He'd take more time to pick that opinion apart if he weren't so busy.]
Yo, law enforcement. I'm here to report a missing person.
And don't mind him. He's harmless, I swear.
[The officers on duty at the reception desk glance at each other, but Bramble just smirks. Now they think he's crazy. Oh well.
Nice to see diligent folk guard the streets everywhere!]
no subject
Oh, Bramble. The evil, evil, dark dark glare you're getting from behind. It would make you and all these would be civil protectors cower in your shoes.
If Nightshade wasn't also cursed with an unseen "Don't take seriously" sign plastered to him. And assuming Bramble has any shoes.
Point remains- the scream.]
Like these people can find my slave!! They don't even have the sense to see what's right in front of them!!
no subject
To which Bramble just snorts and sprawls himself along the bench.]
Tch. Of course.
This is the point where they try to figure out if they can arrest me, mind you. Since somebody couldn't keep his mouth shut and let an exaggeration slide...
You might get to see my prowess, after all.
no subject
[
...actually, given he's a kid living on the street-But on what Nightshade can notice.]If they were watching this place enough to find my slave, they would've come after you already.
no subject
But that means they'll remember any information I give. Sure, they'll bring him in as a suspect in an uncommitted crime! Still, the fact remains.
Today's police are very helpful.
[He crosses his arms behind his head, stretched out on the bench, and calls over.]
Right, he's a lot like me, but paler. Probably checking behind himself a lot, best not to ask why....
And it's probably best to avoid the snake!
[He should peace out of here soon. Oh well.]
no subject
[He doesn't like it, thinking these people are capable enough to accomplishment! How might that get in his way, later? When he's hunting for other targets?
For the rest of that? He's just gloooowering down at this smart, smart boy.]
How long are you going to wait around for them to grab you? Don't expect me to help out if they manage to get you behind bars!!
[...BLUFF]
